The world’s biggest street race is coming back to Vegas!  That's right, November 2023 marks the return of Formula 1 racing to Las Vegas, for the first time in more than 40 years. Racing fans worldwide are already geared up for F1 2023 Las Vegas.

But before the tires start squealing up and down the Las Vegas Strip, here’s a few things you need to know about this landmark event.

The Basics

This isn’t the first F1 Las Vegas race, although it is the first in a long time. In 1981 and 1982, events were held under the name Caesars Palace Grand Prix with the course beginning in the Caesars parking lot.

Times have changed since those two races. For example, F1 races are now nearly twice as long, featuring long straightaways where drivers can reach speeds up to 212 miles per hour.

More details about this exciting global phenomenon:

  • Formula 1 is an international auto racing circuit featuring the highest level of single-seat, open-wheel, and open-cockpit professional motor racing. The F1 racetrack is 3.8-miles and features 17 corners, 3 straights, and 3 DRS zones. The term “Formula” is derived from the specific rules drivers must follow.

  • In 2023, F1 will have 23 races for the first time, including  the inaugural Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix, back after a 40-year absence.

  • The Las Vegas race is one of three U.S. courses on the F1 schedule, along with Austin, Texas, and Miami, Florida.

  • Each F1 racing team is allowed up to four drivers per season, but only two are allowed to drive at once

  • F1 allows for up to 12 teams to compete with a max of two cars per team. However, regulations allow a limit of 26 cars for the championship. Currently there are 10 teams on the circuit, which are: Alfa Romeo, AlphaTauri, Alpine, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Haas F1 Team, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull Racing and Williams.
