With temperatures rising and some of the biggest parties happening at the pool, knowing the tips and tricks to making the most of your Vegas summer vacay is as essential as applying sunscreen every half hour.
While you may have experienced Vegas at night, these tips from Matt Pearson, director of VIP Services at TAO, will help you keep your cool by embracing the sunny day life.
Tip #1: Leave all non-essentials at home or in the hotel room.
Most day clubs and pools will not allow you to bring in any outside food or beverage, and may also confiscate medications or vitamins left behind in your bag. If there is something you need but don’t want to carry it around at the pool, call ahead to see if lockers are available for rent. If you plan on swimming, most pools have towels already available for guests so you can leave yours at home.
Tip #2: Get connected.
“Days of the week, special events and budget will determine your proximity to the pool, but having a solid relationship with a VIP host for the venue can also do the trick,” Pearson said. “You can find a VIP host by asking your guest services coordinator when booking, or by submitting an inquiry online,” he suggested. A host can help you find the best day and time for a cabana and organize your day plan in Vegas.
Tip #3: Plan ahead.
Booking in advance on big event weekends will guarantee you a spot in the shade. With temperatures in the triple digits, having a place to temporarily cool down is a must. Traveling on a budget? Grab a group of your closest friends (most cabanas can hold up to eight) and split the cost. If you’re traveling solo or as a couple, call ahead to see if you can reserve a chair, chaise lounge or daybed in advance.
Pearson says his favorite cabanas are at the Grand Cabanas at Marquee Dayclub. “With its own private plunge pool and a commanding view of the entire pool deck, it’s the place to be to enjoy your favorite DJ or an afternoon with friends,” he added.
Tip #4: Show up in more than just your swimsuit.
While it sounds practical to just show up in just your trunks or bikini, you’ll notice that just like nightclubs, day clubs bring out people looking to dress to impress. Ladies, just swap your heels for comfortable wedges and find a cute cover-up while shopping around the city, and you’ll be set. Guys, this is the only time you won’t be turned away at the door for showing up in shorts and a T-shirt.
Tip #5: Match your day club with your music taste.
Different day clubs and pools play various music. Prefer top 40 and hip-hop? Try Marquee at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas or Liquid Pool & Lounge at ARIA Hotel & Casino. Hoping to hear more house or electronic? Check out Tao Beach at The Venetian or Wet Republic at MGM Grand. Event calendars are also a good way to stay in the know of poolside events and DJs.
