Metallica has spent more than four decades making a persuasive case for volume, scale, and the occasional very long guitar solo. Beginning Oct. 1, 2026, the band will bring all of that to Sphere with Life Burns Faster, a 24-show residency running through March 13, 2027.
This is not a greatest-hits conveyor belt. The Thursday-and-Saturday shows are organized as No Repeat Weekends, meaning no songs repeat across the two-night run. It is a format Metallica introduced on its M72 World Tour and has now adapted for a residency that gives fans more than one reason to build a weekend around it.
The residency will pair Metallica’s four-decade catalog—live staples, deep cuts, and the inevitable songs that rearrange the air in a room—with Sphere’s wraparound LED display, immersive audio, and 4D effects. The point is not simply to make Metallica bigger. They have managed that on their own. It is to see what happens when a band designed for the outer reaches of a stadium is dropped into a venue that can make the upper reaches feel like part of the show.
Dates begin on Oct. 1 and 3, continue through October and November, and resume from late January through mid-March. Sphere is connected to The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, which makes pre-show logistics unusually civilized. Doors open 90 minutes before showtime; arrive early, because this is one of those evenings when the building is part of the main event.

Yes—Life Burns Faster is exclusive to Las Vegas. Metallica has played all over the world, including its globe-spanning M72 World Tour, but this is its first residency at Sphere. The announced run is at Sphere in Las Vegas only; there is no corresponding Metallica Sphere residency elsewhere. It is also notable as the first heavy metal residency at the venue.
The “No Repeat Weekend” concept is not new to Metallica: it began with the M72 World Tour in 2023, when the band played two distinct sets across paired shows in each city.
