Smokey Robinson began his career as the front man for the unknown group The Matadors, who later became know as The Miracles. The group’s first big hit was the 1960 single "Shop Around," which gave audiences a taste of their unique R&B sound. Other hits included "You Really Got a Hold on Me" and "I Second That Emotion." Robinson went solo in 1972, creating a more mellow sound and won his first GRAMMMY Award in 1987 for Best R&B Vocal Performance for the song "Just To See Her."
