Marriage Facts

More than 3 million couples have been married in Clark County since the early 1940s, according to the Marriage License Bureau..

Between 50 and 75 couples are married by an Elvis Impersonator each week at the Graceland Wedding Chapel.

Some unique Marriage Officiates: Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise (various locations), Pirate Captain on the HMS Britannia (Treasure Island), Liberace tribute artist (Sistine Wedding Chapel), Austin Powers, Dracula, King Tut (Viva Las Vegas), and of course, Elvis (everywhere).

Themed Marriage Officiant

Tying the knot Vegas-style isn't just about Elvis impersonators performing quickie ceremonies at drive-thru windows anymore. Today's wackier weddings range from medieval marriages in renaissance dress at the Excalibur's Canterbury Wedding Chapel to a Wedding in the Clouds atop the Stratosphere Tower, including a trip on the Big Shot thrill ride.

Vegas wedding officials are not only licensed ministers but talented performers, themed party planners, and costume and set designers, too. Liberace will tickle the ivories in honor of your love and then preside over the ceremony. Merlin the Magician will wave this magic wand and - poof! - you're married. Vegas showgirls will serve as substitute bridesmaids. And, yes, Elvis will serenade newlyweds with a romantic rendition of "Can't Help Falling in Love With You." (It makes one misty-eyed just thinking about it, no?)

Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year - there's a good reason Vegas is also known as the Wedding Capital of the World - the photographers, florists, organists and chaplains employed by Vegas' numerous chapels, including such institutions as the Little Chapel of the West, pour their heart into every little detail.

And they've seen it and done it all, including planning Halloween-themed weddings during which Count Dracula officiates at an altar set inside cemetery gates.

Drop by the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel and sneak a peek at the "Viva du Cirque" ceremony. While the bride and groom light the unity candle, the aerial adagio team of the magnificent Cees and Cathy twirl and spin overhead, "symbolizing the union of two souls as their bodies intertwine in the mists."
