The mystique of the Flamingo Hotel Las Vegas dates back to 1946 when Benjamin
"Bugsy" Siegel opened his "real class joint" seven miles south of downtown Las Vegas
on Highway 91 (now known as the Strip). The Flamingo Hotel flourished even though
Bugsy was never around to see it (he met his demise at girlfriend Virginia Hill's Beverly
Hills home, six months after the opening).
Las Vegas' famed Strip resort would eventually sit on the renowned "Four Corners,"
along with Caesars Palace, Bellagio and Bally's. While the trap-doors and underground
tunnels Bugsy built for a quick escape are gone; what remains are more than 3,500 guest
rooms, including luxury and mini suites overlooking 15 acres of lush Caribbean
landscaping, Olympic-size pools, whirlpool spas and a zigzag waterslide.
Throughout this unique habitat, you'll see a menagerie of wildlife, including Chilean
flamingos, black-necked swans, Gambel's quail, Japanese koi fish, grass carp, albino
channel catfish, macaws and cockatoos that live on the islands and streams. Seasonal
visitors include Grebter grackle birds, house sparrows and mallard ducks. (The Flamingo
Hotel belongs to the Species Survival Program.)
The Garden Chapel, The Spa at the Flamingo Las Vegas and The Flamingo Las Vegas
Tennis Club also overlook this tropical landscape.
Indoors, life is just as wild. The legendary duo of Donnie & Marie bring the house down in their spectacular Vegas revue show. Comedian George Wallace will leave you laughing in the Flamingo
Showroom. A finalist in the NBC hit show, America's Got Talent, Nathan Burton brings
his comedy magic to the Flamingo afternoons. X Burlesque is a sensual adult show
featuring beautiful dancers, sexy costumes and great music. Gaming options include
everything from slot machines to million-dollar keno.
And there's nothing wilder than Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, where enjoy live music,
strong margaritas and the signature Cheeseburger in Paradise.
